Susan Richardson - Owner
Thank you for your interest in MillarRich! As one of the owners of MillarRich, I can tell you that providing exceptional services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities is a passion of mine. I am a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and believe strongly in taking a holistic approach in providing care to those that we serve. Placing individuals in a family environment helps to ensure consistency of care through reduced turnover and allows individuals the opportunity to experience community life to the fullest extent possible.
Our Family Lifestyle Teachers provide transportation for the individuals they support in their home so that they have opportunities to participate in activities that the individuals choose to do, as well as participate in activities that all of members of the household can enjoy together. Additionally, we are about teaching individuals throughout the day to become as independent as possible in all areas of daily life. For some of our individuals, this may include obtaining meaningful employment. MillarRich is dedicated to providing opportunities for individuals to gain employment skills in a loving, nurturing environment through our various community partnerships that we have worked tirelessly to create.
Rowan Millar and I have also started a non-profit organization called Old School Farm that is a working farm whose primary mission is to grow vegetables that will supply local restaurants and individuals in the community with home grown food as well as provide employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. At Old School Farm, you will see individuals of all abilities working side by side and you may also find school groups and various community groups coming to participate in learning programs designed to help teach urban youth about the joys of farming.
One thing I have learned throughout the years of providing services to those in need is that there is a way to provide inclusive services in an environment where everyone functions and feels like family. You will find MillarRich involved in the community at large at Special Olympics events throughout Middle Tennessee as well as organizing and holding Elaine’s walk to raise awareness about Ovarian Cancer. You will find MillarRich organizing and holding fun events for all members of the MillarRich family at our annual Easter party, Fourth of July Celebration, Holiday Celebration and annual zoo day.
My MillarRich family has grown tremendously throughout the years, but one thing remains at the heart of all --- we have a team of people who care deeply about serving individuals with disabilities and we are always challenging ourselves to stay ahead of the curve. I welcome you to come and find out more about us, or just stop on by to say hello! Our doors are always open.
